Seen this on boxrec thought it was pretty funny
News has emerged on Twitter that Ricky Hatton MBE will be in Sergey Rabchenko's corner as his trainer when the undefeated Belarussian takes on promotional stablemate Ryan Rhodes for the vacant EBU light-middleweight title on June 16 at the Manchester Velodrome.
According to Rhodes' trainer David Coldwell, this came as news to the former world title challenger. Coldwell tweeted:
"He (Rhodes) didn't expect u to be training someone to beat him Ricky. He's a little surprised as that's basically his promoter plotting to get him beat."
Although admitting to being 'gutted' that Rhodes didn't know, Hatton responded: "Sorry Dave. I'm a trainer now. Sometimes fighters from the same stable fight each other due to where fighters are ranked when a title is vacant. I was gutted when two of my fighters were put forward, particularly when I train one and the other (is) a pal. When I spoke (to Rhodes, prior to the last scheduled fight) I thought it was out in the open and made clear."
The pair were originally scheduled to fight on 24th March, but Rhodes had to withdraw with a back injury. Rabchenko ended up fighting last minute stand-in Ronny Gabel (10-5) from Germany, whom he duly dispached in 21 seconds with a left hook to the body. Hatton was in his corner for the bout.
The Belarusian said after the fight: "If Rhodes pulls out for a second time then it will be because he knows that I will beat him."
