lamont has a great story with mass appeal, but it's too early to tell it. nobody knows who he is outside of hardcore boxing fans.

    two hours on these guys?
    at this stage?
no way. nobody would watch it.

i'd like to see it, sure, but i'm a hardcore boxing fan and i'll watch almost anything that involves boxing. catching our interest as hardcore fans is not saying much.
I think this is kinda contradictory. You said Lamont's story has mass appeal but you cant tell it because no one knows him outside of boxing. Well thats the point. His story would sell big time to the mainstream fans and get him well known. Women & mainstream people love that part more than the boxing stuff.

      They should do one
Sky will do a countdown show before the fight, same thing will happen for the Froch/Bute fight.

No it will just consist of Khan whining incessantly about his loss.

          Have you seen this?

I found it quite interesting on Khan.

No, 24/7 are expensive to produce and nobody would profit from the fight if they did one for a non HBO event.
The winner of this fight will be set up for some big fights down the road so they will have their 24/7 shot after that.

Alot of people seem to be getting kinda tired of the same ole 24/7's. Some want them to show more about the undercard fighters. I dont think thats so great though since most undercards suck.

Here though, you have a perfect canidate. 2 very interesting guys. Khan was the guy who HBO wanted to be the next star of boxing. He has the looks, charisman, and new fan base to be great on the show. He's trained by a 24/7 favorite in Roach and is basically considered a Pac affiliate which alot of mainstream fans would love.

If he were to win then how big would that make a Floyd-Khan fight if everyone already knew Khan? The 1st Khan-Peterson fight was mad exciting so if it was like that again (which it probably will be) then it would make a Floyd fight huge if Khan pulled it out.

Then you have Peterson. Who in boxing has a better story than the Peterson brothers? Who is more well spoken than Lamont. He already has the blacks behind him and the others would be behind him because of his story. They could put the 1st fight on Classic boxing for the mainstream people who havent seen it.

They could talk non stop about how exciting it was, how it was also the 1st big fight in DC in years, and how much controversy came after it. Khan would be saying that he won and that Lamont knows I won. Lamont would be calling Khan a cry baby. They will both be going for the KO's in the rematch.

I just think it would be new, fresh, and you have 2 guys who could actually pull it off. Not what some people think is the redundant Floyd personality or the boring Pac-Oscar-Cotto stuff. Even if you had 2 episodes like Cotto-Margarito I think it would be good but I think they could pull off atleast 3. Just me but I think HBO should explore using there extra budget on some new things.

It may be a shock to them to see how big it turns out, e****ally since its on regular HBO. They probably feel that they dont need to sell it since its not PPV but ratings are still ratings and if a ton of people tuned in for it, that would be a big hit
I miss the countdown shows those are suited for fights like this

Do they still do that two days? Last one was Rios/Murray I think.
