You are talking about him the week before his fight.

          Mission accomplished, Floyd.

24/7 is old and played out, regardless who is on it. Most people have a routine they follow daily, fighters are no different. So when a fighter appears on 24/7, everyone is already familiar with his routine, therefore there's no intrigue. The intrigue is only in those who are debuting on the show. Mayweather and Cotto are 24/7 vets, so we already know what to expect from them.

Basically, there's about a half hour of good material in the lead-up to a fight. IMO, 24/7 has always given me the feel of HBO trying to stretch thirty minutes of good material into two hours. Personally, I think a half hour countdown type show would do a lot better.

Floyd needs to realise 24/7 is boring, that he is boring. The crazy antics he thinks he brings to the show are just sad attempts at showboating when noones interested. They would be better off using 24/7 to promote the undercard fighters.

imo the 24/7 episodes have been good from a biographical point of view. I'm a fan of both Cotto and Mayweather and even though I'm familiar with both their backgrounds I still found it enjoyable to watch their training routines and observe their lives outside of boxing.

But imo there has been a problem with these episodes. Did they provide a good insight into the lives of both boxers? Yes. But did they get me pumped for the fight? Strangely enough, no.

As much as I like him as a fighter, I just don't think Cotto has the right kind of personality for 24/7. He has an interesting story and seems to be a really respectful, humble guy, but the vibe he conveys is comparable to having tea with your grandparents. imo he'd be better off, like Marquez and Margarito, just speaking Spanish and having a voice over translate, because his english just isn't exciting to listen to.

As for Floyd, although you can say he's the same as ever, I still find his "same as ever" to be very interesting. I know a lot of people are disappointed with the lack of trash talk, but in fairness he doesn't have a lot to work with in a humble, quiet guy like Cotto.

Hopefully Mayweather will have a more outspoken opponent for his next fight. As for Cotto, as much as I like him I don't think his fights should be featured on 24/7, he's a nice guy but nice guys don't make for great television.

So it's Mayweather's fault that he's not an executive producer at HBO?

Its never gonna be great viewing with Cotto. Nothing against him but he isnt great entertainment for 24/7, especially when theyve already done like 3 on him. You cant really even say anything bad about him cus he's such a nice guy.

24/7 is a good series but its like they struggle for material. HBO should also include short segments of the supporting co-main event. Were paying to see those fights too and it would help build the future stars.
