Floyd doesn't deserve PPV buys after the Ortiz fight. I think casual fans still remember this and won't buy the PPV.

Styles make fights.
Mosley beat Margarito because he had the power to stop the Mexican in his tracks. It doesn't change the fact that Mosley was over the hill, it just exposed Margarito's limited skills. Margarito relies on being physically superior to his opponents and being able to walk through their punches - his chin is phenomenal but no chin is invincible.
You know what they say about a fighter; the power is the last thing to go. Mosley still today can beat a Margarito. Can he beat a target that isn't easy to hit and hits back with accuracy? He couldn't beat Cotto 6 years ago. Vernon Forrest took him twice. He had to job De La Hoya, the 2nd fight being a robbery. The Mosley that power punched Margarito into submission didn't stand a chance against Pacquiao or Mayweather.
Mayweather is bull****ting the world when he claims Mosley was on top of his game when they met. He's trying to convince the world that his victory meant more than Pacquiao's. He never mentions how a shot Mosley nailed him, nearly had him down, fought him toe to toe for 12 rounds, whilst Mosley ran for 9 against Pacman. Styles make fights though, Mayweather wiped the floor with Marquez, whilst Pacquiao struggled. Let's not play into Floyd's reliance on ignorance amongst his fan base by deluding them into thinking the Mayweather-Pacquiao debate is settled by his selective memory.
Saying all this, Cotto is a live opponent. Cotto is not shot. He wasn't shot against Pacquiao, although not 100%. Cotto has been rebuilding since his loss to Margarito and the loss of his father, but he is a tough, solid fighter and this is the most competitive fight Mayweather has opted for since De La Hoya and I respect him for taking on Cotto instead of cherry picking like he did Ortiz, Marquez.

Mosley was too old to beat someone with Floyd's, Mora's and Manny's youth and reflexes ..... did he have a chance? Yes but it was just a punchers chance because that is usually the last thing that you lose .... example, Floyd being in trouble in the 2nd round.
Mosley that Floyd, Mora and Manny fought is not the same Mosley that was in his prime .... by the way, neither was the one who beat Margarito 16 months earlier but Mosley was 16 months younger, not inactive and fought someone that better suited him at that point in his career.

Floyd can't really speak on it because he knows he can't fool the general public if he does say Cotto's a new man. He can't say it because the general public also knows Cotto's over the hill, but not that far off - just enough to put up a good couple rounds or so. He can't say it because he won't be able to knock Cotto out like Pacquiao did unless he plays dirty, and he knows people will compare their performances with the same opponents.
There's nothing Floyd can do to hype up the fight like he did in the past. Cotto is too serious unless he grabs his best friend's butt or something. Mayweather's taking Pacquiao's blueprint on selling the fight and slapping the money label on it. Good PR move on his part, but it's way off base from his usual annoying character that sells fights. Maybe he should also blame the producers of 24/7 for his comments outside of the show for not being exciting. Flip flopper FTW.
