You say why it shouldn't happen yet from an entertainment point of view, but boxing isn't just show business, it's also a sport, and from a sporting point of view both fighters have much too many important fish to fry in their own divisions to be even thinking about fighting fighters in other divisions yet. Ward needs to beat Bute, and Dawson needs to at the very least beat Pascal and Cloud before either of them can claim to have cleaned out their own divisions - and as a bonus, those fights would probably also be entertaining.
