Is Chad Dawson a Potential HOF'er?

    Tarver x2
    Johnson x2
    Diaconu
    Adamek
    Hopkins
    Harding

If Chad stopped fighting today, would he be considered a potential HOF'er?

I don't think he is; In fact, I KNOW he isn't.

I'm just curious what others think.

I remember in 2006 when I first saw Dawson fight against Eric Harding. I thought Dawson was the best prospect at that time. Eight months later he would win the championship against Tomasz Adamek.

As of now Dawson has underachieved. Dawson has lots of talent and skills, and he proved that he can box toe to toe with Hopkins and beat him, very few can do that. He has the potential to be a HOF'er. But he still has a long way to go.

Depends on how he finishes his career.

He has wins over Adamek, Johnson, Tarver, and Hopkins. Adamek was the WBC LHW champ and a Top 5 LHW at the time, unbeaten. Johnson was a Top 5 LHW at the time. Tarver was the IBF LHW champ and a Top 5 LHW at the time after beating Woods. Hopkins was the RING/WBC LHW champ at the time as well.

If he goes on to beat guys like Cleverly, Erdei, Cloud, Pascal, and then guys from 168 who come up to 175, he could be a HOF someday. He has a solid resume thus far. I was shocked when he lost to Jean Pascal. I hope Pascal beats Cloud, so Dawson can avenge that loss.

Dawson is still the man at 175 in my eyes, even though he lost to Pascal.

Ward/Bute vs. Dawson could be a potential super fight in a year or two.

I'd like to see Dawson fight the Cloud-Pascal winner though. Hopefully Pascal wins, so Dawson can avenge that loss.

I remember after seeing Dawosn beat Adamek, I thoguht he was the best young fighter in the sport. He's under achieved a bit as of right now, the Pascal loss sent him back a bit. He still has a solid/decent resume thus far though. It just depends on how he finishes his career.
