Comments Thread For: Mayweather Apologizes, Frustrated With Recent 24/7

There is a pretty heavy buzz surrounding this Saturday’s junior middleweight title bout between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and WBA champion Miguel Cotto, set to go down at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on HBO pay-per-view.

The 24/7's do seem to be toned down since Mayweather-Hatton, not sure why.

It hasn't been toned down. It's just boring as hell now. This is Mayweather's fifth 24/7 series and Cotto's third. There's only so much material you can get without repeating. They should change it up and focus on the main card rather than just the main event.

Its a completely different production company. Some of the producers went on to produce UFC's Primetime countdown show.

Only the Cotto fans seemed to have enjoyed the 3rd episode. It was cool but I don't know what else you can expect to see in a 24/7 episode.

What was so great about the Hatton/Mayweather 24/7 that people loved?

It only worked because Ricky Hatton was willing to talk trash and respond to Floyd's antics whereas Cotto is more suited to being around his friends and family.

A Floyd/Rios match-up would produce some great footage for 24/7.

You can definitely tell the producing of the show, because they don't air even close to everything, have changed since 2007.

I thought episode 1 of Mayweather-Cotto was decent. The 2nd episode was pretty weak, not good at all. The 3rd I thought was alright/pretty good.

Mayweather-De La Hoya was an A.
              Mayweather-Hatton was an A+.
              Mayweather-Marquez was a C.
              Mayweather-Mosley was an A-.
              Mayweather-Ortiz was a B.
Mayweather-Cotto so far has been a C+/B- at the best.

You need certain guys in there to make it interesting, new blood or funny/controversial guys. I'm sure if Adrien Broner keeps winning, he'll be on there someday, will probably be the new 24/7 star. Amir Khan will be someday as well. Cotto is just downright boring. Margarito made their 2 part 24/7 good because he talks s**t.

The problem with doing that is the casual boxing fans couldn't care less about the other fighters on the card. By the main card are you specifically referring to Alvarez? Well, I don't know if the boy can speak any English but what would he bring to the table that has not been seen before?

This 24/7 is boring ass hell, just as boring as basically every PPV for the last few years

They really need to change something up

One guy is a humble family man, while the other just shows off his riches. Old concept, especially when it's like the 8th 24/7 with these 2 guys
