Cosign. This entire thread is silly. hy the **** would a man wait til he's forty seven to fight a guy in his absolute prime at 29 w/ al the attributes that are his kryptonite if he was going to avoid a guy?? This is boxing..there are poitics & matchmaking & not to mention ummm actually making money. Bernard experienced public popularity late he basically played to the strength of wut was gig to prolong & perpetuate that...Basic risk vs reward logic. I mean who the **** has benard ever ducked really?? How quiickly yall forget how nice he was in his mid 30's wen noboody would face him at his best & take that risk of a dagerous fight....i mean u guy are so short sighted at times.

      NO QUESTION B-HOP DUCKED CHAD!

I was a Chad Dawson even back then, I remember when he was a up and comer and he was calling out Joe Calzaghe and Bernard Hopkins after all of his fights

people criticized him about fighting OLD GUYS...but some people clearly wasn't watching or paying attention to that division at that time because at that time the Best Fighters in that Division was the OLDER GUYS: Antonio Tarver, Glen Johnson fighters like that

Hopkins had a chance in 2009
he waited a long time between Pavlik and Ornealas (sp?)
had he faced Dawson then, he may well have won
at Hopkins' age, every passing day takes something off him
Dawson doesn't seem to have changed in the last couple years
Hopkins shoulda fought him a while back
it's sad seeing him lose to him now and bitch about robbery

He should have fought Dawson a long time ago and it came back to bite him.

He would have put up a better fight and had a better chance.

I would have preferred that, at least he would have been able to **** and not rely on fouling.

nachoman...where did i say, that bernard hopkins, ducked chad dawson...i said, its safe to say, that bernard hopkins avoided chad dawson....bernard hopkins himself, said publicly, on video no less, that he would fight the winner of dawson-johnson 2, and chad dawson, for years, on record, called out bernard hopkins, mercilessly, and had to go to court, to secure that he would be next in line, should hopkins beat pascal...so it is definitely safe to say, that bernard hopkins, be it style, money, etc. was not particularly mad souped, to get in the ring with chad dawson...much the way roy jones, wasn't really mad souped, to get in the ring with his childhood nemesis, antonio tarver...s*** happens, nachoman...

nachoman, it is hard for me to believe, that bernard hopkins had nothing else to prove at that time, or he would not have jumped at the chance, to fight jean pascal, for the ring/lineal lightheavyweight crown, and become the oldest fighter, to win a major championship, when jean pascal, beat chad dawson, my man....

exactly that fat dump shaw would have got the fight sooner if dawson didnt get beat by pascal.
