Exactly! this is what FLoyd wants. He doenst understand that a interviewer/reporter needs to ask the questions no one will ask and in Floyds case there are plenty of questions that go unanswered. Floyd has only himself to blame.
Larry obviously doesnt like the guy but its not because he is black. All you idiots crying racism are just displaying the typical response from uneducated self pitty foolishness.
Larry gave mad props to SSM, JMM, Oscar, Tito, Lewis, need i go on??

      That **** is crazy.
I feel that you are being contrarian on purpose. I'm a black guy from Detroit, very easy to root for Floyd, one of my favorite athletes ever. Being a Michigan product has a lot to do with it as well. That said. Look at any sport and their commentators, not everyone plays the sport but a lot sure as hell know how to call it. Larry Merchant is biased against Floyd, everyone knows this. However, I enjoy listening to Larry through telecasts because of his knowledge. I feel that he is fine.

I don't give a **** where you live or who you like. You said Merchant will forget more about boxing than we will ever know. His years of being around the sport gives him insight that we are not fortunate to gain.

Floyd has spent his ENTIRE life around the sport, is a 2nd generation boxer, Olympic medalist, and his family is all about the sport. I would think floyd's years around the sport COUPLED WITH his experience in the ring, which Merchant lacks, gives him both insight and experience.

THat why I posted what I did.

I notice that RJJ and Merchant don't tend to agree when RJJ commentates... And truthfully, I would venture to guess that RJJ knows more about the sport than Lampley or Merchant...

But no, I don't agree with Floyd... I just wish that Roy was a full time commentator...

Steward gets punked out of his opinion too much... Forced to agree with stuff when he knows exactly what's really going on

                  He is right and wrong

To have true inside knowledge on a sport and be considered an "expert" you MUST have competed in it (all of the best coaches in the NBA were former players). To be a good "commentator" though, you do not need to have competed in it. The HBO crew are old except for Kellerman and have watched a million fights. The reason they are there though is because they are good speakers and increase the drama of the fight (especially Lampley who prolly knows the least about boxing but creates the most excitement).

how often do you get that combo? I don't see Stewart and RJJ commentating on the same card.
