  • Why I like Bernard Hopkins. Ode to mediocrity.

I love B-Hop because I think he is a boxer who did alot with very very little.

Learned to box in prison, lost his first pro fight, he's old. But he came back from that. He hasn't gained a pound in 10 years, when some fighters move up in weight constantly.

When I see someone like B-Hop do it, it makes me think that I have a chance to be a pro you know? That's also why I love the James Toney. Smallest heavyweight in 100 years. That's cool.

When I see guys like PBF, DLH, KLITcko's, I just don't give a **** because I can't identify with that. I am never going to be that fast, or that tall, and although I admit they deserve some credit for their accomplishments I will never be rooting for them because i just don't give a ****.

I hated mike tyson untill the Lewis fight. That's when I started having something to root for. Before he was just awsome power, so what. Now he is a broken shell of a human being just trying to get back a little bit of what he used to have, for just one night. That is something I can root for.

I think I actually just shed a tear.

Also, somewhere a Mountain Lion is crying his eyes out.

On the other hand, do you identify with a racist, egotistical prick who respects no one? That's the other side of Hopkins that ihs fans seem to ignore or not think about.

I can't watch him speak or fight without feeling some type of anger towards him. He's a di****able person who thinks only of himself and like most egotistical people, has an excuse for everything he's done wrong/fights that he's lost.

He's a good boxer, but I'll never like the guy because he's not an example of how I want my sport to be perceived.

        I see your point.

Personalities are important. There are good and bad sides to every person. But to me I don't think racism from a black person really matters, just my personal opinion. What are they going to say that white people havn't allready said or done 1,000 times worse?

B-Hop is definitly not the best role model for kids, but then again, this is boxing, not golf or some ****.

And how many X-cons do you know that come out of prison and become millionares legally? Also he doesn't smoke or drink and he has been with the same woman for 20 yrs. Do you know very many boxers like that... I don't.

Hopkins denies that Fisher was fired and declined to elaborate, but Fisher told The Philadelphia Daily News he left the former champion's camp in a dispute over money.

"Bernard is a difficult person to deal with," Fisher was quoted as saying. "When it comes to money, Bernard wants it all for himself. He wants all the glory, he wants all the credit, he wants all the money. It's all about him, him, him."

Fisher, 77, also said stubbornness was the reason Hopkins lost his title July 16 in the first fight with Taylor, who won a split decision. "He can't blame anybody but himself for what happened," Fisher said. "Bernard wouldn't accept my instruction like he normally would. He thought he'd just show up and knock that kid out."

That's because you're a ****ing moron. What's been done in the past is in the past. Racism is just as bad no matter what end of the spectrum it's on. You're a tool, for thinking that, and for the reasons you like Hopkins. This is boxing, who cares what the guy comes from, or what kind of talent he is born with? Floyd is better technically than almost any boxer in the world right now. It's the type of attitude that you have that's helping to destroy boxing. "Who cares how good he REALLY is, he has to be an interesting person, with a great life story.. A regular guy... Someone with limited abilities..." blah blah blah. It's rubbish, all of what you wrote.

Easily one of the dumbest things I've ever read in my life.
