TS, what exactly are you talking about? I think Floyd is a genius. When you're a great fighter there's more money in being viewed as the villian than a fan favorite

Maybe you're a bit "back-to-front in your post. Just think it hrough.......The "favourite " is the favourite because the majority love or follow him, which makes him the favourite. The "villain" is the villian because he's unpopular, but he'll still have his small amount of hard-core fans. This, generally is the potential situation.
Therefore more people will pay to see their favourite than the villain. Those who come to see the favourite will come no matter whom he fights. Those who would only come to see the villain beaten, won't do so unless his opponent had a very good chance to beat him. No one will go to see someone they dislike who's sure to triumph. So...the villain needs both his own supporters and a potentially winning opponent.
If more people come to see the "villian", then he's actually the favourite. In this case, you have 2 popular boxers each with his own major following.
Also, if every great fighter wanted more money-which they actually all do- they'd all be Just "villains", according to your theory.....
Just my opinion
