Chavez missed the deadline to sign the Martinez contract

Apparently Wednesday was the last day to sign the contract, but Bob Arum and Chavez didn't sign it. Beltran (Chavez' manager) is on record saying all the details were worked out a week ago so there shouldn't have been anything on Martinez' side holding back the fight. Sampson Lewkowicz said he expects the WBC to announce Chavez getting stripped sometime this week.

For some ****** reason, the belt is going vacant instead of going directly to Martinez. Macklin was #1 in the WBC rankings when Martinez beat him so it's kind of bull**** he has to fight someone else from the WBC rankings to regain the title. Currently the #1 guy is Billi Facundo Godoy, another Argentinian, so I could see Martinez taking this fight in Argentina seeing how HBO isn't very likely to approve the fight. But the #2 guy, Avtandil Khurtsidze, has the silver belt so I'm not sure if he gets first dibs. I thought Khurtsidze beat the hell out of t N'Jikam so he's probably the most deserving, but the guy is a 5'4" midget.

HBO will let JCC Jr. fight who ever, or else Bob will just do a PPV himself because no matter what Jr. sells. If that belt is that important to them anyways, they could just pick up a different one and not even have to deal with the question anymore.

HBO has no real leverage on JCC Jr. because he doesn't need them like most guys do~

Sergio isn't fighting any 168 lb fighters, you can count on that.
