Nonito is gonna be 30, the windows closing. Donaire has been taking too much time to settle his whole career.
donaire wasted a LOT of years being a headliner for those garbage ''pinoy pride'' shows up until his fight with montiel he faced a lot of flunkys

donaire wastes wayyyy too much time fighting cans in the lower divisions. now when he moves up, he has next to no chance to be a dominant force in the divisions where ppl will take notice, add to the fact that hes 30 and there is gonna be a lot of wear and tear on his body, include his suspect defense at times and his over reliance on athleticism and u got a recipe for trouble if he goes much higher. i think hes realized this, thus the level of op hes been fighting lately. either way, hes turning out to be a big disappointment.

And that most likely will be the case since Mathebula's team is entertaining it... What a shame.

From a Donaire fan (which Im not) point of view you could see it that way. Or... you can look at what Donaire has been doing lately (the opponents he has faced) and called this move BULL****. Trying to "unify" vs this guy, the easiest belt he could get as if he hasn't had enough easy fights.

I'll tell you what Donaire is scared of and it's not Rigondeaux. He's scared of anyone who will be able to touch him up upstairs. Did you see how Vazquez had Donaire's face? He got a baby face.

I don't see how Donaire can say no one knows Rigo but than entertain a Mathebula fight. Both are champions and have titles, and both are in the same boat, only Rigo is actually promoted by TR and is probably one of the Top 1-2 fighters at 122.

Donaire-Terrazas or Donaire-Mathebula is still better than Donaire-Mijares though. At least Terrazas beat Montiel, Mathebula is a Top 10 SBW and beat Ndlovu at least. Mijares hasn't done s**t since 2008, and that was at a weight way below 122.

Nonito better at least fight Jorge Arce in the fall, and eventuallys hould fight Rigondeaux and Nishioka before leaving 122. He said he likes 122 and feels comfortable. There's no reason he can't fight Rigo and Nishioka before leaving 122.
well these guys set the bar so low, its a joke people would actually welcome Mathebula as an opponent but i see ur point

hopefully its Nishioka and not Arce though, style wise its more of a challenge for Nonito

Another bad fight ... A fight with Terrazas was an OK fight since at least Terrazas is a g and strong guy who just beat Montiel. A fight with Mijares is complete crap, Mijares hasn't done anything since a couple of years.

Even Arce is a better fight than Mijares. But now he wants to fight Mathebula? He's even more unknown than Rigondeaux (I remember he didn't want to fight Rigo because he was unknown to most fans)

The division has some pretty good opponents like Nishioka, Rigondeaux, now Mares and soon Chemito Moreno.
