It's an interesting statistic. Of the fighters youmention, none is nearly as defensively minded as Mayweather, which might suggest the reason for the difference. I wonder what Willie Pep's statistics might have been for his first 42 fights?? Of course he had an additional 200+ fights and lost only 11, his first loss being his 63rd fight, so is ranked as one of the top 5-10 lb4lb boxers in history.

Before I joined this site, for me a "boxer" was different to a "fighter". There were also "boxer-fighters", like "fighter-bombers". To me Mayweather is a boxer. Martinez and Ward are boxer-fighters.

Floyd can fight too now...There is no technicalities, "Well he's a defensive fighters, his stats are supposed to be better", nah *** all that...a guy who gets in that ring and puts their life on the line, is a fighter period...fighting is for warriors, and guys go to war in that ring!
