I'm not sure. Gamboa is smaller and shorter. Abril won because of his style but his height helped in my opinion. Rios didn't know what to do against a taller boxer. Gamboa would have fought a different fight thus a different outcome. I think that the fight would have been a toss up to be honest. Either guy could knock each other out. Rios would only be able to do so because Gamboa would be smaller. I don't picture Rios being able to knock out someone like Alvarado or Guerrero.

I wondered that during the fight, either he knew the fix was in or he really believed that Rios was winning, i just don't see how a trainer cannot see his fighter in danger of losing a fight.

exactly, this would make a great thread and not sure if some one has made it yet and would be worth while to discuss, but yes i don't think you can argue that gamboa would have been able to ko this version of gamboa because abril was giving him trouble. But we'll will never know

Abril got robbed for sure but Garcia was telling Rios he had to let it go before the last round. Rios knew where he was at he didn't need his trainer to tell him he needed the KO.

With that said, the fact that Rios was carried around the ring following that horrible performance tells me he knew the fix was in. Normally when a fighter gets dominated like he did you go to your corner and can't wait to get the **** out of there.
