Seriously...What was he supposed to gain by taking a step down from john murray and fighting an unknown?? His team should of told arum its gamboa at 135 or nothing and go directly to 140. He lingered around too long and it came back to bite him in the assss.

I think he just wanted to beat up the guy that mashed his face at the press conference. Not a career move, more of a personal one

I see fighting a guy like Abril because he has a solid record and looks like he belongs in the ring with Rios from a physical standpoint but I have no idea why they made that fight at 135, I am sure Abril would have fought him at 140.

That would be my big question, why even mess with the weight which he was having some issues with, when nobody cares where he fights Abril at.

They could have picked anyone with a glossly record, nobody would cared.

Same thing I was thinking. Abril isn't a small guy. He would do fine at 140 and certainly would have taken the fight regardless. Rios even said that if Gamboa still wants to fight, it must be at 140 now. There was literally no reason to fight at 135 other than to regain a title he already had, and was going to vacate immediately anyways...which was ******.

After this dismal performance, all the elite boxers will give a PPV main event fight now...

It's all about giving people chances. You fans are sounding like some of these fighters that don't do that.
