Yup it is smart I'm user he didn't throw anything at all while doing that though, or he would just clinch, and the fact that was his game plan not move and box and throw combinations it was hold non stop then once they were in the middle of the ring throw A jab and may be a right and then clinch, and while he was holding rios he was getting hit to the body and partially to the face, neither of them were able to inflict damage on each other at all which is why it was a terrible fight.
Do people on here like how ABRIL fought??

And I know alot of things that Abril didn't let rios do or didn't know how to do it, that is why he got exposed, deal with it, Abril took rios to school and will do it everytime I don't hear rios wanting another shot at abril, I'm sure they could do it again at a catch weight, but they already know it will be another night at the adult education college...Who said for Abril to trade with him? You claim we don't know anything about boxing, but is the only way for a fighter to outbox an opponent to hold him and smother his punches? Because I know a lot of things Abril could have did last night with out trading at all that would have got him a victory and put on a decent show. so may be you don't know boxing. And as you can see my favorite fighter fights nothing like Rios.Last edited by garfios; 04-15-2012, 12:03 PM.Comment

Maybe I need to watch the fight again. I know he held at some points but not enough for me to discern excessive clinching. I thought Abril showed an awesome defensive presence. Damage may not have been done to either man, but Abril dictated the pace and won in my eyes. Lucky break for Rios.Yup it is smart I'm user he didn't throw anything at all while doing that though, or he would just clinch, and the fact that was his game plan not move and box and throw combinations it was hold non stop then once they were in the middle of the ring throw A jab and may be a right and then clinch, and while he was holding rios he was getting hit to the body and partially to the face, neither of them were able to inflict damage on each other at all which is why it was a terrible fight.Comment

I think you believe I am some big huge Rios fan yes he didn't allow Rios to do much but he had the chance to do a lot and he didn't. He was fine going 12 rounds to expose Rios as a horrible boxer which we all already knew, Abril was content showing Rios can't hit him but he didn't seem interested in winning the fight. And I know alot of things that Abril didn't let rios do or didn't know how to do it, that is why he got exposed, deal with it, Abril took rios to school and will do it everytime I don't hear rios wanting another shot a rios, I'm sure they could do it again at a catch weight, but they already know it will be another night at the adult education college...Comment

Clinching in general is illegal. It's an tactic that is used in place of defense. Usually from the fighter's inability to fight on the inside. Russian, is this the best you could do? Honestly?
You're a ****** for considering clinching is as legal as punching, but I don't blame you. Like I said, the referees rarely do anything about it so of course you'd think it's legal.
Also, Clinching=/=Holding.Comment

it was a terrible fight for your homey Rios, everyone not being Rios fan enjoy it, commentators, writers, fans from all over the world and a few Mexicans, he was exposed for what he is, a limited come forward plower with not even one punch KO power.Yup it is smart I'm user he didn't throw anything at all while doing that though, or he would just clinch, and the fact that was his game plan not move and box and throw combinations it was hold non stop then once they were in the middle of the ring throw A jab and may be a right and then clinch, and while he was holding rios he was getting hit to the body and partially to the face, neither of them were able to inflict damage on each other at all which is why it was a terrible fight.Comment

Same here I need to re watch again myself but while he did show good defense with excessive holding, I thought he could have really dominated the fight but he barely through punches himself. And I felt the punches he did land had just as much impact as Rios' partially blocked punches but I was giving Rios rounds because he was still backing Abril up and outworking him. I can't see how people can't understand with this explanation why i thought Rios won.Maybe I need to watch the fight again. Clearly he won the fight and he followed a game plan that is what he did, and 99% of the posters had Rios steamrolling over Abril which means not everybody though he was that terrible of a boxer.I think you believe I am some big huge Rios fan yes he didn't allow Rios to do much but he had the chance to do a lot and he didn't.
