Comments Thread For: Arum Jabs Rios vs Abril Referee For Not Taking Points

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum was unhappy with the officiating in Saturday's main event at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, which saw Brandon Rios (30-0-1, 22KOs) win a controversial twelve round split decision over WBA interim-lightweight champion Richard Abril. The scores were 116-112, 115-112 for Rios and 117-111 for Abril.

The referee could have taken points from Rios for rabbit punching and holding and hitting. Abril wasn't holding that much and he did get warned for it. Arum is just trying to deflect attention from the fact that Rios got completely dominated and exposed by a guy who most boxing fans have never heard of.

Arum should know that the best way to make people forget a robbery is to shut up and let it fade as quickly as possible. Talking about it doesn't help.

If Arum has a gripe it should be that his fighter disgracefully could not make weight, two fights in a row!if the tables were turned and it was Abril who didn't make weight I doubt Arum would've even let the fight happen while smearing Abril's character for being so unprofessional.

Arum please, die already, let me get back to enjoying boxing

Bullsh.it! When Abril wasn't hugging he was holding Rios' hands. Take that away and Rios lands dozens more punches and Abril gets KTFO!

Hey Mr. Arum, how about taking jabs at the judges?

So very true. Don't forget Rios getting away with hitting after the break as well. Arum is scum, plain and simple.
