I don't think the fight will be at 175 if Bute is planned to be the opponent after that. So staying at 168, who could he face in June?
Possibilites:
Brian Magee (36 years old, but WBA #1)
Glen Johnson?
Edwin Rodriguez (ranked by WBC and WBA, but fought only one month ago...)
There aren't really many options that people would consider at least decent, not even for a tune up. Unless he fights the younger Dirrell brother.Comment

I can understand Ward feeling and wanting Bute to take a hard fight. But the way he made his comments after the SS6 saying he not gonna fight Bute and that Bute needs to earn his shot. Now it seems like Ward is saying he would fight Bute in June or July if that was available. Thats kind of strange to me. Never been on the bandwagon that Ward was ducking or avoiding Bute but its lame what Ward is saying now in regards to that fight!
For the record I have a healthy Ward beating Bute anyplace anytime!!!Comment

Not really, Ward has already embarrassed himself by turning down the fight when Bute offered and now calling him out when he already has a fight lined up. How come he won't fight Dirrell, his mandatory?
Both those guys a ridiculous man, one only fights in his backyard with hometown refs and the other one fakes injuries to avoid fights and needs to stay out of the sport for good.
It's bad that these two guys are America's hope for the next representatives of the sport. Dirrell is a tremendous waste of talent, at least his brother seems to be a real man and Ward is more fabricated than anyone would care to admit.Comment

It's laughable that people think Andre Ward would fight Kessler, Green, Abraham, Froch, but is afraid of Lucian Bute??? That fight will happen, people need to relax.
As for who Ward can fight in June/July, there aren't a whole lot of options. I think he should fight Andre Dirrell, but that's just me. Dirrell is a Top 10 ranked SMW, arguably beat Froch and whupped Abraham. He looked fresh inhis ring return, so the only reason I don't see why that fight couldn't happen is if Dirrell wants another tune-up fight or something first. If he wants another tune-up fight instead, he should fight someone like Sakio Bika, who's a Top 10 ranked SMW.
Noe Gonzalez and Adonis Stevenson are fighting next week, 2 highly ranked contenders by the WBC. Anthony Dirrell, not yet. I think Anthony Direll should fight someone like Brian Magee/Dyah Davis, and then fight the Gonzalez-Stevenson winner. If he wins those, than he should get his shot with Andre Ward.
Stieglitz and Groves are fighting already. Oosthuizen is already fighting someone in April, and hasn't really done much yet. Edwin Rodriguez, he hasn't done much yet either.
There aren't a ton of options at 168 right now.
He could either fight Andre Dirrell, which is what I hope he does, or fight someone at 175 for one fight, and than come back down to 168 for his Fall 2012 fight. If he does do a little interim fight at 175, he should fight Gabriel Campillo. He's a Top 10 LHW, and coming off beating Tavoris Cloud and getting robbed. He really should be the IBF LHW champ. That would be a good fight.
So, I hope he does either Ward-Dirrell at 168, or Ward-Campillo at 175 for this summer. Than, in the fall, he has a ton of options.Comment

Andre Dirrell has a ton of talent. He's the only fight for Ward in the summer at 168 that makes sense. Everyone else is tied up or hasn't fought anyone (Anthony Dirrell and Edwin Rodriguez). Let Anthony Dirrell fight someone like Magee or Davis, than someone like the Stevenson-Gonzalez winner, and than get his big shot. All he's done is beat St Juste, that's it.
Andre Direel arguably beat Froch in England and was whupping Abraham before the DQ. He looked fresh in his ring return. The only reason that fight wouldn't be made is if Andre Dirrell wants another tune-up first or something.Comment
