I still don't think Chavez Jr is the payday people may him out to be. Chavez himself will definitely make big bucks, but his opponents usually don't. Martinez got $1.5 million against Barker from HBO, had a half million dollar gate, got some sky sports money, and got some extra sponsor money. If he fights Chavez, Martinez will probably only get 30% of the purse and 0% of the gate. He'll get around $2 million dollars if he's lucky. Chavez may very well end up being Martinez' biggest purse, but not by very much. You can argue the exposure will help him out after the Chavez fight, but that's a different matter.

The only real payday for him out there is a Mayweather fight. Anyone else from bum to elite will only make a difference of a few $100ks.
