Great signing for Mayweather Promotions but I think it's a VERY risky signing for Dirrell. Mayweather Promotions has not done anything as a promotional company and Dirrell is a super talent. Maybe Mayweather Promotions needed a great talent to be the face of their company and Dirrell may be the guy but Dirrell could have went anywhere and with someone as talented as himself I think he should have went with a proven Promotional company. I hope this doesn't backfire on Andre.
Andre Dirrell set to sign with Mayweather Promotions.

Would be a great signing and would help Mayweather Promotions pick up more fighters with a couple of good names under the promotional banner. Gamboa & Dirrell together would have been a slam dunk, but as they say, "Rome wasn't built in a day"Comment

That's very true. They could also get that MW prospect from Detroit J'Leon Love, he looks like a decent prospect. If they can Andre Direll and if Gamboa can somehow get away from Top Rank, though unlikely as of right now, and sign with Mayweather, it'd make it a bit more legit. But I still see Golden Boy doing to main promoting for those fighters, just like they do with Jessie Vargas right now. I don't even think Floyd is a lecensed promoter as of right now.Comment

That's a star-studded "stable". He must be proud that he's making Top Rank "shiver". I don't understand the point in signing with a company which has no promoter's licence, and there's no proof that they've ever "promoted" anyone. Perhaps it's a different kind of arrangement.......Written by James Tonks Tuesday, 10 April 2012 20:53
The king of boxing Floyd Mayweather's retirement is likely to come in the not-too-distant future, and with that in mind he is showing early signs that he means business with Mayweather Promotions.
Sources close to Ringnews24 can confirm that super middleweight Andre Dirrell is being lined up to sign for Mayweather Promotions. Dirrell's contract with Gary Shaw Promotions has expired and he is expected to sign with Mayweather Promotions any day now.
With Dirrell competing in one of boxing's hottest divisions, Mayweather will be looking to create some exciting match-ups for the fans. Possibilities include a rematch with Froch - the only man to [controversially] beat Dirrell. There is also Bute, Pavlik, Stieglitz, Abraham, Groves, Rodriguez to name a few and let's not forget the Super Six Champion Andre Ward.
Sources close to Ringnews24 say that Mayweather Promotions are also desperate to sign Yuriorkis Gamboa, but he seems tied up with Top Rank for the foreseeable.
Currently in Mayweather's stable are Jessie Vargas, Ishe Smith, Deandre Latimore and Mayweather himself.

If Floyd had anything to do with Gamboa pulling out of the Rios fight, he could have very well stalled or even worse, ended his career. TR will have him shelved for the next year or 2 while the court prededings play out. Damn shame as Gamboa was one of the most exciting guys in the ring!Comment

I heard it was more about the logistics. His company still isn't well prepped enough to put on a decent undercard performance, and handle more of the day to day things that make a fight.Comment

I hope I'm wrong as I think Dirrell is a really good fighter, but I think this is going to destroy his career. For some crazy reason he left Shaw AND Al Haymon and I don't know if Mayweather Promotions will ever be able to match the power that both Shaw and Haymon can bring to the sport.
And it's things like this that make me question his mental state.Comment
