    Boxing veterans today who .....

are actually able to bring young up and coming fighters to the deep end and see if they'll sink or float. You know that phrase you hear all the time, but don't really take seriously. Who'll test to see if they're actually ready for bigger fights.

I mean, you see it sometimes, a veteran fighter who's brought into the fight as a name because they think they can easily win, but end up losing.

    Ex:
    Chop Chop and Nate Campbell
Both men coming off wins against young fighters.

I was thinking him, but didn't know if he reached that point yet. I was on the edge with him because he had won a title recently and did that unification bout... but after the loss they set him up with Paris.
So... I was on the fence

would it be necessary for the veteran to win?

anyway, JMM vs juan diaz was a good example...

mike mccallum 12 years senior than james toney in their first fight not only took james deep, he gave the 24 year old prime and fit toney a very difficult fight... some would say mccallum had a case of actually winning that fight... (most excellent technical fight ive ever watched)

duran-barkley or better yet duran-castro! both castro fights i think is a very good example of what you are looking for... the 2nd fight with castro was a very underrated win for duran IMO... 46 year old far over the hill, with really no business @ SMW beating a top contender at that time via UD...

i dont think you completely understood the question. Also, how are Zab & Glen not vets?
