I ilke JulianFoster88's take on this fantasy fight. You gotta give footwork to Hopkins but power and combinations to Toney. This would be a dirty fight on Hopkins side but I favor Toney at 160. 175 would be a different fight altogether that I'd favor Hopkins in. Toney by decision at 160.

Anybody that knows James Toney knows that there are 2 different James Toneys that can show up on fight night. Is it the James who properly handled his weight between fights and took good care of himself or was it the James out partying with Snoop and Dre during the evenings of his training camp?
James Toney was one who could be magical at the moves that he pulls off and even more so who he pulls those moves off on. Toney was a man of speed, his elusiveness and skill easily perpetrating the shots insipite of the power that stood before him.
The people that gave James trouble were the people that were faster than him. While Bernard is skilled, I just don't see Hopkins giving James awhole lot of trouble. James was fast with his feet too, extremley fast for his weight. He would have been in and out on Hopkins all night long.
Hopkins, while skillfull, could not beat James Toney on his A game. Toney on his B game David Tiberi could beat...........Rockin'

Toney was pretty inconsistent at 160. He looked brilliant in the draw with McCallum, not so great in his close win over him, terrible against Tiberi, okay against Johnson and Wolfe, I think he often gets too much criticism for struggling before stopping Nunn.
Toney would have to be on top of his game against Hopkins. But I pick Hopkins largely for the fact that Toney, for pretty much all of his career, was much better against aggressive guys rather than guys who used more movement and made Toney come after them. Hopkins is obviously a very intelligent fighter in the ring who is not going to give his opponent the best chance of winning. He'd probably box and use more movement and try to make Toney chase him, en route to taking a decision.Comment
