The fact is Chavez is a draw, Martinez is NOT! Therefore he gets the **** end of the stick! This is how business works. If you have leverage and power, there is no small business who is going to push you around.


Like I said. Boxing is a business and boxers are independent contractors. When they get together for a fight it is a joint venture where both fighters together will attempt to draw the most viewers and most fans possible to maximize their earnings. Since Martinez has a hard time doing this, he will need to accept a fight with someone like Chavez at their terms not his terms. That's just the way the cookie crumbles.

No there are many items that are negotiated before fights, not just money.

The venue
The weight
Who walks in first
The ring size
etc...etc...

it's unfortunate but when you are the little guy in a joint venture you have no leeway in trying to negotiate any of the terms whether it be money or something else. When you have very little pull and when you bring very little money to this joint venture you have no choice but to accept what is offered to you, or you can decline and go make less money elsewhere. It's the way this world works.
