Why did Gary Shaw make that bet?

We all no about the bet between Gary Shaw and Jose Luis Castillo but my question is in the aftermath of Castillo weighing over the limit why if so many experts were saying that JL had such a huge advantage did Shaw go ahead and challenge Castillo?

Was Shaw trying to show his fighter Corrales that weight aside I have confidence in you? Did Shaw at the time of the bet overlook the weight factor (maybe for a time he didnt think it was significant)...did he suddenly change his mind about the weight factor after the fight and if he didnt change his mind and new the weight was going to result in his fighter getting smoked then why did he entertain that bet?

If you were to ask Gary Shaw today why he made that bet with Castillo what do you think he would say?

It's because he didn't think the weight was a factor until Corrales got knocked out easy and early. If it went into the later rounds no one would be complaining.

        I completely agree.

Alot of boxing insiders have been very critical of Castillo fans who think the weight was not most significant difference in the fight...apparently Shaw should be ridiculed by these experts (Doug Fischer) too because he didnt think much of the weight either and to prove it he bet on it.

I may have missed it and knowing me I did but prior to the fight I never heard any eperts or boxng insiders who were talking mismatch because of the weight difference.

I did hear on a few occassion how Castillo may have trouble if the fight goes into deep waters.

Bottom line-I dont want to rehash the weight controversy but my whole point here is Gary Shaw is not the brightest guy in the world.

Manny...do you realize how many things that I know that you dont?

If Shaw felt confident like you and I both believe then why did the weight turn into the CRUTCH after the fight with Shaw?

Losing is tough and of course you are going to ***** and moan when your guy obides by the rules and the other guys does not but I would love to hear a reporter straight up ask Shaw why did he make the bet with Castillo after he had failed to make weight and then after the fight use the weight issue as a crutch?

Again Manny...do you realize how many things that I know that you dont?
