HBO did a tremendous job with this entire video series.

The Chavez vs Taylor story is one of the saddest. How the fight was, in a sense, taken away from Taylor. How Taylor's life turned out after the fight. Just goes to show what one night can do.

This series had too many myths and exaggerations, and this was one of them.

Taylor had the 2nd best win of his career a year after losing to Chavez. The loss of course took something out of him, but people seem to get the impression that Taylor was some sure fire ATG in the making who had that taken away from him that night, without even looking at Taylor's career afterwards, and the state of the WW division at the time.

His career probably wouldn't have been all that much different even if not for Chavez.

The fight and story was plenty dramatic enough. No need to exaggerate things.

If there's a pet peeve of mine that stands out in boxing, it is revisionist history.
