Look at that latest WBO ranking and tell me who do you want to fight Pirog and I tell you why it's not possible. The problem is that every coach will immediately see want unsolvable task is ahead would they send their fighter to challenge for Pirog's title.
Luckily Pirog is fighting Gaele. Hopefully afterwards their won't be any comments saying he is not deserving or anything. Nothing is confirmed, so I really hope that HBO sticks to that schedule.
The biggest problem is that the rest of the top 10 is already in either big fights or don't want to challenge themselves yet. Zbik is facing Felix Sturm in April 13th, Maksym Bursak facing N'Jikam on the 20th, Lee is negotiating with JCC JR, Murray is having Visa issues, Macklin and Proska just fought and lost this past month, Bill Godoy is taking on Baldomir in Argentina in April, Taylor won't leave the USA, And Bejaren is fighting on the 21st against Ante Billic.
At this point if your Dmitry Pirog you take the fight with Ishida, win, stay healthy and then get the Geale fight signed, sealed & delivered so they can get on the North America scene and force a fight afterwards with Sergio Martinez or JCC Jr.
You don't have to like it but its boxing and Ishida is in the right place/right time.
That's the beauty of the sport - guys like Ishida are rewarded with bigger fights for being tough and giving it a 100%.
The beauty? I would agree if he won his last fight. But this guy is 36 and lost every round of his last fight. 120-108. And he is rewarded for losing all 12 rounds with a title shot against a talented champion who has defended against nobodies so far.
If Pirog wants a warm-up, he should fight Ishida in a 10-round non-title fight. As a title fight, this is a stinky turd.

They just want an easy fight and know Ishida will do it for the right money since he's old as **** and getting close to hanging them up. So he wants some big money before getting out.
I doubt Matvey and Top Rank would take it. About a month ago on here there was a article discussing their plans which were to have two fights, i believe on the Rios and Pacquiao undercards, then look for a big fight against a top MW name or Titlist.
Also remember that Korobov is based out of Florida and is a Top Rank fighter so i assume they would rather promote him and have him fight in America. Having him fight off American TV in Russia seems unlikely.
