Bert Sugar had a very special set of criteria to decide the 1 and 2 yet it defintely doesnt apply to Tunney and Charles.

    EXACTLY !

He harped a lot on punching power, & neither racked up the KO's at heavyweight.

He screwed up by honoring them as lb4lbers, in the heavyweight division.
Great fighters, definitely. But not in the top ten of all time heavies.

      7. Forman
      8. Charles (Not Sure on this one)
      9. Fraizer
      10. Holmes

Im not 100 % sure on this but i kno this is somewhat correct. I remember he also said he had Holyfield at number 11, and Tyson at 14, and Lennox Lewis at 20.... .. .
Tyson had a greater impact than holifiled

      The correct top ten

      1. Ali - predicted when they would fall.
      2. TYSON- YOUNGEST HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMP KEPT BOXING ALIVE TODAY.
      3. LOUIS- BROUGHT A NATION TOGHETHER
      4. JOHNSON-FIRST AFRICAN AMERICAN WORLD CHAMPION AMONGST HVY WGHTS.
      5. MARCIANO- THE STREAK, THE RECORD, THE LOSSES.
      6. MOORE- UNDERRATED BECAUSE HE WAS A LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT.
      7. FRAZIER- RIVAL OF THE GREATEST MORE HEART THAN ANY FIGHTER ABOVE.
      8. Holmes- he was a dominant champshould be ahead of foreman my m istake
      9. DEMPSEY- EXCITING FIGHTER AND CHAMP HARD TO SEE HIM AS A HVY IN todays era.
      10. FOREMAN - PART OF ALI LEGACY 2TIME CHAMP. OLDEST HVY WGHT.CHAMP.
11 Tunney- 61-1 says it all like dempsey might be a cruiser in todays boxing based on style, skill, and weight. Great champ none the less.

I'd put Liston as 12 then Patterson, Lewis, then charles followed by who ever else.

Archie Moore lost every significant heavyweight match he was in...

A great, great fighter....but not a great heavyweight.

Frazier,Foreman,Norton all needed Archie moore because of the Mongoose defense that they copied from him

What does that have to do with his accomplishments at heavyweight ?

Nothing it was his influence as a boxer.
Legitimacy for dipute of other great boxers.
Marciano and Ali both defeated him. Yet he was really old and sort of passed on the torch. Holifield is sort of this way in a lesser fashion.

besides he is a champion that revolutioned the style of boxing.
He won fights and fought for championships at a very old age.
His spot might be a little high though I'll admit that but without him the history of boxing in the HVY WGHT. division would be TO SAY THE LEAST DAMAGED.

Archie Moore is one of my favorite fighters of all time... but he's as much a heavyweight as RJJ is.

AlI TRAINED WITH MOORE BUT LEFT CAMP BECAUSE HE DIDNT WANT TO TAKE THE TIME TO LEARN THAT OLD SCHOOL DISCIPLINE.

HE WHUPPED ARCHIE IN A SPARIN SESSION YEARS BEFORE THEY FOUGHT.
