WBA super featherweight champion Kina Malpartida (13-3, 3KOs) has signed a contract with promoter Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing. Malpartida won the WBA's female super featherweight on February 21, 2009, when she knocked out Maureen Shea in the tenth round at Madison Square Garden in New York City. She retained her title four times since then, including a ten round decision win last April over Rhonda Luna in Lima, Peru. The most recent win avenges a 2008 six round split decision loss.
