    Now, not so much.
No, he's not salvaging anything, he's saying what most people are saying including me. And that is that Morales was out of shape and still fought a close fight, and if he had been in better shape he could have won. That's exactly what I said during the fight, if Morales hadn't come like a couch potatoe, he could have actually enable himself to dig deep and win some rounds that he let Garcia win in the end.

I agree on those same points except the reason he wasn't in good shape is because he's past his fighting career and not because he had a surgery. He can compete, but he will never be on JMM's level again.

Please don't take this as a knock on Morales, I'm a big fan of his and respect him very much.

I disagree that Marquez is trying to salvage a easy payday for a cakewalk. I honestly believe morales take pride in people consider him the best and only one to beat manny pacquaio from mexico in this era. So if a Marquez vs Morales fight get made I can almost bet my life on it that Morales will come in at the best shape of his life past prime of course to give it a valid effort for the win

I'm pretty sure Marquez is smart enough to know at this point that Morales cannot compete with him and definitely stands nothing to gain by fighting him at this point side from money. This is my whole point and most super fights like this don't occur after losses like that.

i agree... i think Marquez would destroy him easily. Marquez counter punching + Erik's heart = bad for Morales' health

i love morales but after the 8-9 round he had nothing! i think Garcia could have finished him if he stepped on the gas

No doubt about it. It's sad but most likely true. Morales just hasn't been the same. Still good, but just not what he was. He used to be very special.

On the bright side, at least he's not as faded as Roy Jones was at that age.

Erik Morales looked sick and he still put Danny Garcia through hell.

                      That's a true champ.
