Canelo was the original plan for the Cinco de Mayo occasion. I'm certain GBP fought tooth and nail for Alvarez. Remember when he called out Mayweather in his last fight? That was part of the scipt hatched by GBP/Floyd. Canelo is the easier fight.

Mayweather was possibly persuaded by people close to him that this is his chance to get back at Arum -- steal Cotto away from Pac.

Big mistake. Cotto/Pac 2 wouldn't have happened, anyway.

That's why you see a Floyd not in his usual element in this fight. Even Hoya hasn't commented anything about this fight. Which is very unusual.
