From a very reliable source I have just been notified that most, if not all, of the rec centers that are sponsering the boxing in Detroit for its youths have been closed. That includes Kronk, Johnsons and Butzell and many more.
These rec centers offered much more than just boxing to the youths of the inner city. These were safe grounds where the young people of Detroit could spend an hour or a day playing, learning and growing as good citizens far from the dangerous streets of Detroit.
It saddens me to believe that a legendary place such as Kronk has fallen victim to Detroits political blunders, errors and embezzelement. The damned thing that burns me is that these politicians are supposed to be looking out for the city and its people but to me it seems that they are and have been looking out only for themselves and their families. Ofcourse, these words are not intended for every one of Detroits politicians.
I hope that I will soon find that these words "Kronk, Johnson, Butzell are closed" were misinterpreted. I am afraid that with the situation that Detroit finds itself in that they were not.
