Comments Thread For: Frank Warren: Burns Back in July, Mitchell Tough To Make

Promoter Frank Warren has revealed that WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns (34-2, 9KOs) is likely going to return in July. The most sensinble opponent, says Warren, is Kevin Mitchell (33-1, 24KOs). The fight has been brewing for several months and British fans want it to happen. Warren says the fight will be tough to make because Mitchell wants a lot of money to make it possible.

Mitchell will be tending to his cannabis plant farm around then thats why its hard to make. Hes no right in wanting more money than ricky. He sould get about a 40:60 split.

Exactly. Who the hell does Mitchell think he is? He seems to believe he's still the hot unbeaten prospect. He got blown away by Katsidis nearly 2 years ago and has only fought twice since. In that time Burns won the WBO super-featherweight crown and picked up the WBO lightweight championship by soundly beating Mitchell's conqueror. Burns has also gathered a lot of support in Scotland and packed out Braehead Arena (6,000 fans) in his last fight. If the Mitchell fight were to happen, they could easily sell 10,000 tickets in Glasgow, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if they sold 15,000 should they get a venue big enough.

If Mitchell demands more money, Burns should tell him to fck off. This is a great chance for Mitchell, he should be biting Burns' hand off. Doesn't deserve any more than 40%, 45% at a push.
