It was a fluke of timing that screwed everyone else up, and that's why the DQ didn't need to be made. They could've mulled it over, or even just gone "No harm, no foul," and kept going. Schorle was sticking to the letter of the law when the situation called for something else.
I think you're right in that it SHOULD be a no contest, but I don't know if Texas' commission will actually make it so.

I wish the writer would stop with the hopeless anaphora. And there wasn't a single thing in the whole dreary, ponderous article which hadn't been already belaboured over the past 4-5 days.
As for Teddy's metaphors, one day he'll get his tongue so tangled up that he'll never untie it. Who wants to listen to Teddy's garbled explanations of what the viewer is already seeing.
And to think that I once liked to read "Fighting Words".....Still, my post will contribute to the needed reader response.

The holding down of Kirkland's head then kidney punching him was so blatant it was hilarious. Kirkland was in such disbelief that he stood up, looked at the referee, who just gazed emptily back as Molina did a Mayweather and sucker punched a bemused Kirkland. It was so bad it was comical. Molina got what he deserved, a DQ. That it was for a benign reason that was not justified just added to the farcical nature of the fight.
If you're going to hold, spoil, bore your head, use your elbows, then you get whats coming. That performance makes the dirty tactics of Hopkins, Hatton, Mayweather (and his elbows), Ruiz, etc look like kiddy play. It was disgraceful.

The worst commission in boxing and a disgrace...
Those states might be even worse, in the grand scheme of things, for how little they protect all the boxers whose names we'll never know.

I'm not so sure about Molina's legs being shot. He shot up quickly and seemed stable and with his eyes clear. The minute rest might have done him good
Kirkland had finally been able to do what he needed to, however, and all of us know he would've made as much of those final six minutes as he could.

I don't BLAME Molina, I BLAME John Schorle, 'cause he would just stare the ENTIRE time Molina displayed these illegal tactics, for sometimes up to 35 seconds at a time, wasting the fans time, and most importantly Kirkland's time. When a clinch ensues, and if not at least ONE hand of the fighters hands ARE FREE, the Referee MUST step in and break them apart (While usually barking BREAK!!), like ALL competent referee's DO.
I actually HOPE a rematch is ordered, but I sure as hell hope they bring in a Referee with at least a decent amount of competence, like Smoger or Bayless. Schorle might as well not of even been in the ring that night because he did absolutely NOTHING, the reason we have Referee's is DUE to the very thing Molina did all night without being warned and/or penalized, using illegal tactics non-stop. Like I've said, I don't mind some clinching (but then letting go right away) being used as a tactic to somewhat take your opponent out of his rhythm TO AN EXTENT. But Molina used it as his NO. 1 strategy all night, and did it MORE then he actually mounted offense.
Also, for the people who said, "Kirkland should of just pushed him off" if you've never boxed before and experienced a fighter tying you up and holding your arms in an awkward position, then pushing you back to the ropes and laying on you, you absolutely CAN'T get the space or room to push your opponent off of you. Molina KNEW this, why do you think he kept DOING it? Just like he KNEW Schorle wasn't stopping him or warning him, so he kept doing it. Us fans missed out on what was SUPPOSED to be an exciting, legally fought match because Schorle DIDN'T do his job. Case closed, plain and simple.

The strange thing about this is, I've NEVER seen Molina fight like he did the other night. He clicnhes, but NOWHERE NEAR the amount he did. He initiated 118 clinches according to a compu-count video on youtube. I was rooting like hell for him to beat Cintron, and he did it with skill, and boxed Cintron's socks off. I DON"T get it, why he clinched so much. I understand it was effective for him against Kirkland's aggressive style, but my god, it was SO damn excessive. I've watched this fight twice now and I'm baffled more and more everytime I watch it.
