A lot of old school hardcore smokers who graduate to cigars don't smoke them correctly, they actually inhale the smoke which is basically the worst form of tobacco smoke you can imbibe (and also the only way you can get lung cancer from them).

Another boxing character who didn't get to see the fight of this century. Funny guy.

Rest in peace, sugarman. A true lost to the sport and its great journalism. Hit wit will be missed.

          Wow. Sad news man.

Bert was in love of the sport, R.I.P. Champ.

          Descansa en paz, amigo.

His "100 greatest boxers I ever saw" book was a great starting point when I first started getting into the sport.

            RIP, Bert.

sad.... blessed man to live as long as he did with the life he had. I would have loved to have had a night of whiskey and boxing talk with him. the stories he could tell.... god rest his soul.

Despite what some may say about his bias towards the Golden Years of boxing...he always seemed like a stand up guy who was a fellow boxing junky.

He was the last of a dieing breed

                    RIP Bert

I will miss his wit even when I thought it was campy or over the top. He loved the sport and we all knew it.
