morales has always been a great boxer. i thought most people knew that. he would get dragged into brawls and people would wonder why because they knew he coulda won easy if he boxed. look at barrera. he turned into an excellent boxer himself but we he tried to outbox morales in the first half of the second fight, morales dominated him.
To think people actually questioned Morales skills as a boxer

He's always been very, very skilled. But during this comeback, he's had few athletic gifts to fall back-on, it's been almost exclusively craft and intelligence. That is what the fascinating part of his comeback has been to me, just watching him adapt with the loss of his speed and legs. I don't think people rely how much he has physically diminished. It really has at times been watching a master at work.Comment

A lot of those backing Hamed in a Hamed-Morales matchup underestimate morales' skills, acting like he is mayorga or something and saying he would get laid out because he likes to exchange.
He had a habit of coming back with combinations if he got hit but he had much better defense than people give him credit for, even using the shoulder roll sometimes, which he did again this last fight.Comment
