I still see this guy talked about on here, often dismissed as a "bum" because "he never went on to do anything after Calzaghe".
Never got that notion. People who say that... do they REALLY think someone would be the same physically - and, most importantly, MENTALLY - after they'd endured a one-sided 12 round slap down? People never seem to talk about the psychological side of the game, and seem surprised that Lacy's career was totally derailed. I think he was better than given credit for, post-Slapsie.
On the other side of the coin, pre-Slapsie he was LUDICROUSLY overrated. I came on here after seeing him score a feeble TKO over Pemberton where he looked DREADFUL. Slow, wide, easy to hit, missing badly with most of shots. In other words, a counterpuncher - or, in Joe's case, a counterslapper's - dream. Yet I log on, and he's "P4P top ten" with the performance, and I'm a "bias brit" for not giving him his "props".
