Comments Thread For: Team Molina To Appeal Disqualification Defeat To Kirkland

Junior middleweight contender Carlos Molina (19-5-2, 6KOs) is planning to appeal his controversial ten round disqualification loss to James Kirkland (31-1, 27KOs), says promoter Leon Margules to BoxingScene.com. On Saturday night at the Reliant Arena in Houston, Texas - Molina was ahead on two of the three offical scorecards, with tallies of 88-83 and 87-84, when he was knocked down at the end of the tenth round.

what ref failed 2 do was issue the DQ immediately, which was procedure, and if he wanted to DQ Molina, @ his discretion. not as an after thought & consulting...the ref is in control of it all...sure seems a lot of s**t is happenning in TX lately (horrible commish in Cole & judge Garcia)...time to move bouts like this to Mexico or AZ...

Molina is a nobody as far as popularity is concerned. The only people who know who is are true boxing fans. He doesn't have the promotional backing to become anything special, even though his talent says otherwise. Molina is a fighter that other guys get to put on their resume. Guys like Cintron, Chavez Jr, Kirkland. Guys who at those points in their careers were up and comers, possible future stars in the making. The only problem was Molina schooled all of them, which wasn't in the cards. You wanna know why this kid gets robbed in all his big fights? There's your answer. Golden Boy yelling to DQ Molina at the end only proves this. It must be really easy to fix fights in Texas. I can't remember the last fight I saw in TX that actually went well from Round 1 to the last bell. Even the Pac/Margarito fight should've been stopped after 9 rounds and "Sonny Boy" ref allowed the fight to continue. Pac/Clottey was a ****ing joke if I've ever seen one. Remember Diaz/Malignaggi I?

          Sorry to see this happen

I actually feel sorry for Molina as he was winning the fight. Boxing sure seems shady at times like this. Kirkland has no hand speed- no defense- no footwork- no head movement nothing. Am I the only one that sees that Kirkland's boxing skills are minimal and he is vastly overrated???

don't blame kirkland because he was already losing the fight.all that holding and pushing molina was doing is what got him caught. maybe this fight needed the khan vs peterson ref. then molina wouldve been disqualified by the 4th round. rules are rules and molinas corner broke them.

the judge who had had kirkland ahead should be disqulified for life , not molina who always gets on the wrong end of the corrupt decisions . why the referee was from california ? are there no referees in texas . it's was travelling circus of golden boy promotions . don't know where boxing is going , new guys in boxing like golden boy have no integrity they thionk their money can buy everything and everyone . unfortunately they're right in most cases . Boxing needs Federal Comission .

Here's the fight in a whole
Rd 1 -Molina jabs and hugs
Rd 2 -Sublime hugging skills on display by Molina
Rd 3 -Molina decides to try and fight for 10 seconds then hugs
                Rd 4 -More hugging
Rd 5 -Molina looks aggressive with his hugging
Rd 6 -Jabbing and hugging from Molina
                Rd 7 -More hugging
                Rd 8 -Even more hugging
Rd 9 -And more hugging then...
Rd 10 -Molina gets knocked down because he wasn't hugging then gets DQ'ed

                hallelujah

Molina is a scumbag and he should of been penalized for his pathetic antics this is boxing not wrestling, maybe he would be better suited for the UFC because he was a disgrace last night he could of won that easily but he decided to fight(if you can even call it that) like a coward

The judge that ***ed up was Texan Gale Van Hoy who's been involved in a bunch of CONTROVERSIAL & BAD DECISIONS & most of them in Texas & he's also known to favor Texan fighters(Kirkland is from Texas) & I could only guess that the reason the ref was from Cali was to make the fight somewhat neutral since they are fighting in Kirkland's home state, which in this case it actually did more harm than anything!!

They should reverse the DQ for his corner man stepping in the ring and change it to disqualification for excessive holding.
