What a sick joke. Velez ran like a frightened vulnerable puppy from a 35 year old. Pure disgrace. He was soundly defeated and did not come to fight. He ran worse than Oscar did against Trinidad. Once again a case of blind judges.

very poor effort 4 Velez vs a guy he should've been outta there by 4, that's what he was brought in 4...another PR protected guy, but the judges scoring was pathetic... do they test judges there or make them go to clinics??...must be relatives of the Ramirez's...

When you run like a frightened puppy against a guy with 26 losses, you are not a prospect. Especially since Beranza now holds a win over him, regardless of what the 3 blind mice wrote down. Boxing corruption at its best on display once again. Those scorecards were filled out before the start of round one.

It's the build up and hype. They sell Baranza as dangerous and a step up for Velez when Baranza has more recent losses than Velez has fights. This was no real test for Velez and he got little out of it that will help him later, hometown decisions like this are worthless. I'm not saying rush him, but don't get so excited and raise your arms after a win like this. People know what they're watching.

"""This was no real test for Velez""" Don't be ******, not only was it a test, Beranza beat Velez and Velez was booed by his own people for running instead of fighting.

I was ringside and was pretty disgusted. Kid's got a looooong way to go.

I saw more skill in a later fight with a 1-0 record guy going against a debutante. Those two showed more skills than either Velez or Beranza.

That heavyweight guy Machine Gun Tapia... the kid moves like an athlete. Gonna have to check out his future fights.
