I think more people were excited when Tyson got KO'd than sad. At least I was lol

But with Sup (That's what I call him), I sometimes find myself rewatching that 2nd fight with Tarver and actually hoping for a different outcome. I went through the FOUR stages of grief with that fight.

    1. Denial: When Sup slumped back like he did after that "lucky lick", I didn't even flinch. I actually tricked my brain into believing that the knockdown didn't happen.

    2. Anger: Immediately, I viewed Tarver as the typical tattle-telling cousin from the suburbs who "snucked" me and then ran and snitched. (He didn't even see the ko punch he threw with his eyes closed as he was clearly losing the fight)

    3. Barganing: "Please god... Tell me this isn't happening!!!"

    4. Depression: You could literally tell who all the RJJ fans were by the body language and the look on the faces at work the following monday.

Man, that figh,t party pooped my whole night. I couldn't even go out and get it in like I wanted too. I was done for a few weeks. I still can't watch that fight til this day.

It just completely messed up my groove.

The Tyson-Buster fight is debatably the biggest upset in sports all-time.

The other two are not even in the conversation.

I was about to type this same response.

Tyson and it's not even close. Roy had shown signs of seriously slipping in the first Tarver fight. Tyson losing to Douglas is up there with the biggest upsets in sports history.

Tyson's loss by far, that shit stopped time
people who didn't even watch boxing were talking about it
Roy losing to Tarver was shocking, but not implausible
Roy killed his career dropping back down to 175
Chavez losing to Randall was an upset, nothing more

I thought some people in the hispanic community might feel differently.

Chavez Sr is one of the greatest athletes to ever come out of Mexico.

There was so much weight riding on Chavez Sr making it to 100-0.

Maybe Chavez Sr's loss effected Mexicans greater than when Tyson loss. Who knows, that's why I ask the question.

I was 10 when Tyson lost to Douglas and I remember being very upset. I thought Tyson was invincible. It didn't help that my dad was laughing his ass off since he was a George Foreman fan. He always rooted against Tyson when we would watch his fights together.

For the Jones loss I was in the Navy. Right when the fight was about to start I had to go to my refueling station. After a few minutes someone got on radio and told everyone that Jones was KO'd in 2. No one could believe it. Some even thought the fight was fixed.

This is what I'm saying. When Jones was KO'd it was up there in some of the biggest upsets at the time.

That's like Mayweather losing right now.

Despite Jones looking weak in his first fight against Tarver, many thought Jones would handle Tarver in the 2nd fight like he handled Griffin in the 2nd fight.

Give it some time, I think writers will acknowledge Jones-Tarver II as one of the greatest upsets in history.

Just like Tyson, Jones was also invincible.

                    Jones 1st loss to Tarver?

Or Chavez Sr's loss to Randall?

Right now, I'm leaning on Tyson's loss to Douglass. I was a kid watching that fight on ESPN. Tyson was a machine; I would've never imagined he would have loss ever in his career.
                    Tyson's loss.

I was shocked about Jones but It was obvious he wasn't himself in the 1st Tarver fight so getting caught was a foregone conclusion.
