But by today's standards, Martinez DOES do much better in television ratings for HBO than the vast majority.

If you compare them to historical figures, then Martinez -- and Chavez, and Alvarez, and everyone else -- comes up short, too.

If you compare them to JCC Jr., he comes up short. But you could say that of almost everyone -- maybe not Saul Alvarez, but that's about it.

For a guy that doesnt have a household last name (Chavez), a nationalistic fan base (Alvarez, Chavez, Cotto), he is doing pretty good numbers in HBO. He just need to beat a known name and he will improve his numbers a lot. If Sergio was with GBP, Oscar would come out of retirement to make him a bigger star.

He's not gonna get bigger if he keeps fighting in places like Connecticut.

I'm pretty sure he does. But, Tim didn't post any numbers to back up his claim. You should ask Tim to post the numbers and other athletes numbers. And, compare them.

I know Martinez-Pwilly 2 did really good numbers. I'm sure this past weekends fight did solid numbers.

I'm sure Martinez does do decent numbers which is why he gets paid like at least 1.5 mill every time out. He'll just never make superstar money until her performs on the big stage.

Chavez: HBO Ratings for Sergio Martinez fights have averaged 1.3 million live viewers. Chavez Jr. HBO has averaged 1.6 million live viewers.

Those are decent numbers for an argentinian. They dont have the same fan base as mexicans and ricans.

Martinez needs more exposure. Argentine people here in USA need to know of him.

The guy would beat both pac and may- if given the chance.

Martinez is an incredible fighter and deserves the best matches out there. I just wish he would fight more often than twice a year to build his name.

Agree with this. Not sure where you bring Sergio. It's not ideal, but he needs his opponents fan base to have a big draw at the gate, which alot of big name fighters do need nowadays.
