He wasn't on the verge, Cotto was on full retreat..which is why the doctor stepped in to save cotto.
Seems to me the doctor was concerned for Antonio's health, as you should've been. Miguel was clearly ahead in the fight and wasn't likely to get stopped, much less lose on the cards. But, hey, I suppose national rivalries are more important than a man's sight and future....
does anyone remember Cotto flying back to Puerto Rico and like no one was there at the airport?
I don't remember after which fight it was but it was funny as hell
Funny? Kinda sucks. Miguel is a damn good fighter and seems like a nice enough guy. But your story illustrates why I don't think Cotto would receive anything like Trinidad's treatment after a major upset. "Tito" is a living legend on the island; Miguel doesn't command nearly the same kind of popularity.

I fully disagree, we are talkin about Floyd "the best, period" Mayweather. If Cotto were to beat him, PR would commence to sucking Cotto **** right when he landed back to the PR airport.

Oh, I'm certain Miguel would get a nice reception, probably bigger than anything he's ever enjoyed; but the TS mentioned "50,000 fans from all over the island." I don't see that kind of turn-out for Cotto, even if he took Floyd's "zero."
I think Floyd is the best but I give Cotto more of a chance than most. But if he wins that'll be great. Opens up the divisions for more talk then just Money and Pac. And if Pac loses.... :wank:
