another thing is not every fighter is the same, some can't jump weight classes like others. mayweather's done it overtime as well, it wasn't like he was fighting in different weight classes every 4-6 months. martinez is also a lot older, losing or putting on weight for him would be more crucial than to someone like pacman. and he's slim/fit at 157, if he went down to 150, he'd be drained. and if he went up to try and match SMW and weigh around 164 at weigh ins to try and close the size difference, he'd be too heavy to perform at his best.
hbo nor martinez has never even included martinez and canelo in the same sentence, it's only chavez jr. and he's a top rank fighter, he's protected as is. hbo knows that's one of their moneymakers, of course they'd be biased.
    gezzz,
pac fought the top welterweights at the time,
and pac also was going up and down and up and down in weight when he fought diaz, then up two weight classes to fight delahoya, then back down to fight hatton, then back up to fight cotto...pac, in a stretch of fights, has gone up and down in weight in several fights back to back...but pac haters makes a big deal about cotto needing to shed only 1 pound (for one fight) off of his official nomral welterweight weigh-in of 146, to 145...pac has done the weight loss and gain in several fights in a row...dont tell me that what pac did in those several fights, as far as gaining and losing to make weight vs diaz/delahoya/hatton/cotto...is no where near the disadvantage as the 1 pound that cotto had to lose to make weight or the official weigh-ins...give me a break

and you constantly bringing up the 30 day weigh in. pac weighed 153 a week before the mosley fight. dibella said martinez was 154 during fight week.

and you're an idiot if you think ward/martinez size difference isn't much. ward's a big SMW. you're probably just trolling though, i doubt you're really this ****** to believe what you type.
pac normally weighs a little over 150 when not fightin/training...how heavy does martinez weigh when not fighting/training? i bet its not 154, hahaha...what a moron...when not training for a fight and just enjoying life, i bet when pac weighs a little over 150, martinez weighs between 180 - 200

Martinez proved to the world that he is just average. What did he do in his last fight that was so great? It took him a long time to stop a guy with no power. He does not deserve a fight with the likes of Pacman and Mayweather. I just dont think the guy is all that good.

Your talking as if Pacman is great, which he's not.

Why do some of the posters here think that walking around weight = fighting weight? I mean, use some common sense. RA-Box explained it perfectly by stated that Hatton walks around as a HW. So did that mean that Hatton could have been competitive at HW? of course not.

DiBella doing a terrible job promoting martinez

DiBella is doing terrible with martinez. Martinez should drop crazy Lou and go to Top Rand or GBP. Duh???? Dibella is a small time carnival operator.

Right on Lou DiBella, HBO/Larry are just protecting their cashcow fighters.

He won an interim belt against Bunema, had 1 defense, got promoted, moved up. Never defended the regular belt once.
Vernon Forrest ducked Sergio Martinez for a long time at 154. He had to vacant his title because he didn't want to fight Martinez, who was his mandatory. Same as Chavez at 160. Alfredo Angulo also didn't want none of Martinez at 154. A lot of fighters didn't want to fight Sergio Martinez and that's why the PWill fights happened and Pavlik. Sergio Martinez has been KD and KO'n fighters in all of his past 4 fights. Dude is on his job.
