Whoever said Hatton didn't impress needs to watch the fight again

Here are my observations after watching the fight.

    1. Hatton was very patient, kept his composure and did not panic despite the cuts on both his eyes(both caused by headbutt).
    2. Hatton just kept outworking Maussa, systematically broke him down and did not look for that one-punch KO. He knew it was gonna come eventually(credit to his corners' advice).
    3. Hatton was in a major reach disadvantage and he knew he was gonna take some shots to unload his own. Just look at the leaping KO punch, that's how far he had to jump just to reach Maussa's chin LOL.

And finally, I think nobody has really noticed this...

    4. Maussa has a much much more improved boxing skills. That was almost NOT like the Carlos Maussa that fought Vivian Harris. His punches weren't as wide as before. I thought he had a beautiful and swift jab. His combinations were really quick(especially the body shots). Props to his trainer for a vast improvement. His defense is still ****ty though.

Give Ricky his due. If you didn't see the fight, then STFU. I still think he wouldn't beat PBF but a fight with Cotto is 50/50.

      I can't believe I missed that fight

I'm a Hatton fan who is accustomed to some boxing fans hating on him and am very glad to run into a post giving him the credit he richly deserves. I didn't see the fight . It wasn't aired here or if it was I didn't get it on cable. I hope they air it here soon. I'd love to see Hatton get a solid knockout. From what I'm reading it was a good fight.
Hatton isn't as famous as he should be in the U.S.A. but I believe that he will gain all the notoriety he deserves when he gets a few more fights here. He will be a big draw and a money maker for the sport. I'm very glad to see someone with decency and class making headlines for the sport in a positive fashion.
      Peace.

The fact that it was a one punch knockout really impressed me. His last 2 performances have been great, and I He looked as good as you could against an awkward, tricky fighter like Maussa.

people also need to understand WHO the fighters are...

you will never see Hatton put on a hit and not get hit clinic like Floyd did vs Gatti...that is because that is NOT Hatton's game...that is NOT who he is...

Hatton is one of those take shots, to land harder shots, break your opponent down, and finish him type of fighter...

Floyd is hit, not get hit, and see how long the opponent lasts...

            two different fighters...

I never liked Hatton for staying in Europe and fighting, but he made Tszyu quit and KO'ed Maussa so he definitely is the king at 140. I think he stops Cotto late.

To be fair to him, that's probably more to do with his notoriously overprotective ex-promoter. He'll come out now.

What'll probably happen next though is he'll have to have a longer lay off thanks to the cuts, and then he'll probably be roped into that mandatory, so it'll be at least eight months (IMO) before he's in the US fighting Cotto.
