I disagree. While nobody called Matty the next fighter of the decade, the hype for him matched up with Broner on this site. I just think the hype for Matty didn't last as long

yeah was ridiculous, i wasnt on this site at that time but i read lots of mailboxes, comments etc, know what the hype was like, people just disregarding the ponce de leon fight as if it didnt happen. Saying that, i thought broner was better than he turned out to be, wasnt expecting him to lose to maidana.
I wasnt on the matthyse hype train either, cause of his struggles against judah and alexander, picked garcia to beat him. The broner hype was definitely greater than the matthyese hype though, i remember broner making appearances on pound for pound lists after beating some bums at lightweight.
