Based on his unspectacular performance against Barker....and the rumors of him looking bad in sparring for the Macklin fight...the answer appears to be yes.
Is Gabriel Sarmiento's absence hurting Sergio?

ex-girlfriend abuse or something, i'm not sure. pretty ironic since martinez is always campaigning about stopping domestic violence and helping women out. not sure though.
anyways, i don't think so. gabriel wasn't there when martinez fought dzinziruk. that was the first fight without him but i think he was there for his camp. i also heard that martinez's left arm was injured or something during his fight with barker. he had some kind of cast on it after the fight i think. but no, i don't really think it's affecting him. barker was just awkward for him at first. macklin should be able to give martinez a better performance.
you also have to look at the fact that barker was his real first middleweight opponent after pavlik. williams and dzinziruk aren't career MWs.Comment

We'll get a better idea after this fight. I wouldn't assign too much meaning out of the Barker fight because Barker was super defensive in a manner that is hard to look good against. Macklin's style should be better for Martinez.Comment

Martinez is a bum who beat a drunk and threw a lucky punch. He hasn't fought anybody and, if he ever steps to Chavez, he'll be in hospital for months.
Martinez won't though, and the reason why is actually very simple, it's because he's one big piece of chicken shitComment
