How can you call someone who fights for a living a ''coward''?

Please explain this to me. Im quite new to this internet world, have only had Internet for around 6 months or so now but i see so many people especially on Boxing forums call professional boxers ''cowards''. The likes of Gamboa, Mayweather, Khan etc get that insult thrown at them on a regular basis.

What i want to know though is why people feel they can have the nerve to call someone who fights and risks his life everytime he steps into a ring for a living, a ''coward''. Do you really feel you have the right to call them that?

Just a general question, i am genuinley intrigued by this, no offence is meant to anyone so please dont take any. Just educate me on why yourself(if you have used this insult) or others feel they have the right to call someone who fights for a living a ''coward''. Thanks.

because its mostly fanboys who say these things. Or if someone doesnt fight someone else then they are ducking. So i guess by that logic JMM is ducking Cuenco now

Anyone who steps in the ring shouldn't be called a coward but, when they refuse to against someone I can understand why people use the word.

Some people just miss the irony in calling people who make a living from fighting a coward, if nothing else it's amusing.

Be it personal issues, physical issues, contract issues or a number of other reasons, fights can't be made and/or break down. It's a business, **** happens.

Because it's usually guys that were never athletes in any sport that do so, or guys that are really 16 year old teenagers, who haven't followed the sport for a long time.

It's like that guy that asked of Calderon could hurt him, even though he's like 200 lbs and 6'0'' tall. Abner Mares, 5'4'' and 118 lbs, would beat the living s**t out of a ripped 6'0'' 200 lb guy on the street......why......because he's a trained fighter and the street guy isn't.

It's like when people say Miguel Cotto has no heart, what the f**??? He has the heart to get hit with bricks all night and still fight back.

Easy....a fighter that's afraid to fight = coward

Especially if you call yourself the greatest

A fighter that's afraid for his health = coward

A fighter should not be afraid for his health unless he is fighting someone way much bigger than himself.
