Even Narvaez is still ranked number 1 in his division- So is Marquez.

Donaire would beat him, but I doubt it happens.

Mares-Moreno should happen before he goes to 122. Mares beat Agbeko, who's a pretty good boxer with good speed. But, Moreno is a level above Agbeko pretty much. And Mares would be tougher for Moreno than Darchinyan was. Vic is just too damn wild when he's attacking and way to reckless. Abner seems a bit more relaxed and in control of himself, not great defense, but better D than Vic.

Mares-Moreno August/September 2012, than move up to 122 win or lose.

mares is unlike anyone nonito's faced. mares is the truth and i'm not saying he'd win but it wouldn't be a one sided fight for any man.

Donaire is in no way shape or form in any position to tell Mares that he's scared to fight him or anyone else.....look no further than Guillermo Rigondeaux.

And, FWIW I like Mares, I like a lot of fighters who fought at 118 in the last couple years. Making that weight-class the best weight-class in boxing. I got respect for Mares.

But, if we can be unbiased for one minute and put the Donaire hate on the side. The KO of Montiel is a better single win than any one win Mares has had in his career. That win just last year mind you. I do like the recent comp Mares has faced though more so than Donaire. But, Mares hadn't really look good in any of them except for maybe the 2nd Agbeko fight.

And, Mares is fighting Morel next FFS's. Who is he going to fight next? Not Moreno that's for damn sure. There is a better chance Donaire fights Rigondeaux before Mares fights Moreno.

While I think Mares-Moreno will happen at some point, it should just happen now. Even if Mares were to lose to Moreno, he doesn't take a big hit or anything. He still won a titles at BW and can move up to SBW, and win another title. And Moreno wants to move up as well at some point, maybe a rematch could happen if it's close ya know??? I don't see why GBP doesn't just make Mares-Moreno after Mares-Morel and Moreno-De La Mora.

I thought Moreno's fights with Sydorenko and Monshipour should have been comfortable UD wins for him, I think the fact those fights were in Germany and France had something to do with the SD wins. But his fights with Cermeno were pretty close, it's the most trouble I've seen Moreno have so far. At the same time, I thought Abner really beat Perez and should have had UD wins in both Agbeko fights. But, the most trouble I did see Mares have thus far is with Darchinyan.

Mares and Moreno would both be the toughest fights for each guy this far, but it's a defining sort of fight for both guy right now. And a rematch could happen down the road at 122 if it's close.

Both of Mares and Moreno's next fights just seem like stay busy sort of fights. I mean, even though Morel is #4 ranked by the RING, he's probably a bit past his best. And De La Mora isn't anything at all as well. I just wish they'd fight next.

The one thing I agree with Abner on is Donaire. I know Donaire beat Montiel, which was a great win, but he has no business talking about avoiding someone, given the stunt he's pulled the past couple months about Rigondeaux. Saying he's not well known enough or too boring, but then fighting Narvaez and now Mijares??? Donaire, in the position he is, should be fighting Arce, Nishioka, and Rigondeaux at 122, no one else.

I don't think Mares gives Moreno the trouble that Cermeņo gave him IN THAT FIRST FIGHT. Not even close. Not because do I believe Cermeņo is better than Mares. Because, he is not. Mares is the much better fighter, the more skilled fighter. But, stylistically Cermeņo gave Moreno trouble, the roughness, dirtiness, the style, the style. Mares is more textbook, Moreno handles that with somewhat ease. Just little fits here and there. Nothing major.
