Comments Thread For: Brandon Rios-Richard Abril Agreed, Gamboa Being Sued

BoxingScene.com has been advised that a deal was reached for WBA interim-lightweight champion Richard Abril (17-2-1, 8KOs) to face Brandon Rios (29-0-1, 22KOs) on April 14th at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Rios and Abril were involved in a minor altercation at a press conference last week in Miami.

Whatever comes of this, Gamboa's career is in serious question.

        What he said

It feels like Top Rank knew Gamboa wasn't going to turn up so they sent Abril to try create some drama as a replacement. I could be totally wrong, but nothing would surprise me with Arum and his devious mind lol

Gamboa needs to run to another promoter as fast as possible. Maybe Golden Boy could buy out his Top Rank contract or something, because he's done with TR for sure.

On a side note, why didn't Arum just scrap the Alvarad-Herrera fight, and make Rios-Alvarado???? I bet HBO would still keep the fight if that happened.

This is nothing more than a smear campaign by Bob Arum. Looks like it worked

This is the end of Gamboa as we know it. What an awful choice he made.

I knew this fight was too good to be true.

Who the *** is Richard Abril?

                    He beat Acosta.
