Will Bob Arum use Pacquaio as a stepping stone for upcoming Top Rank fighters?

Or, will he let Pacquaio retire when he chooses?

I'll be honest with you I can see this happening, Bob Arum using Pac to build up other fighters in their ranks. It's happened to all the greats under the Top Rank umbrella. Why stop with Pacquaio? Whose legacy means more, that of Top Rank or Pacquaio? Top Ranks legacy needs to go on, so that cycle of old greats getting eaten up by younger fighters needs to continue.

I'd like to think otherwise, and hope it wouldn't be the case, as it's always sad to see greats getting used as stepping stones. But with the way Pac's tied up with Top Rank contractually can't see it ending with him retiring on a high note.

If you think he'll be used as a stepping stone, who do you think Bob Arum has lined up to beat Pac's shadow in the next few years? Is Bradley the first?

I think after he's been retired a few years top rank will try and get him out of retirement to face one of their up and comers.

I don't think he's gonna get a retirement break, until they've used him to build their next star.

          Not anytime soon.

Way more $$ in squeezing Pacquiao as a winner
His political career would have to fail.
He'd have to slow down and loose a lot of power (late 30's?).

I don't think they will want to risk their future champs against him until he pretty much has no chance of defeating them.

Yeah agreed it wouldn't be soon. But eventually yes. Can you see the likes of Donaire and Mikey Garcia moving up to fight him at a 140lb catchweight? A shot Pac would still beat B. Rios imo.

How many more years do you think Pac has at the top? He isn't getting any younger. And is already showing signs of fading. Pac -vs- Bradley will be a war, but Pac will come on top, then JMM -vs- Pac in November. I can't see Mayweather -vs- Pac taking place soon, unless Pac has a v winnable chance. I could see a Rios or Peterson fight happening early 2013 though. That's 3 tough fights in a row.

I don't see it happening. I think when he loses one fight, he is done and out of boxing for sure.

But how? Course, he would want out. What I'm asking is will Bob Arum and Top Rank let him retire that easily?
